Help Me!!

“Help me!!”

His screams reverberated in her head, like a symphony the orchestra plays at an opera. The song never ends.

“No one can hear you my love, ” she whispered. Her tone an icy, monotonous calm as she leaned in to caress his face. The wind howled around them, carrying with it the mournful cry of a distant owl.

“I’m sorry… ” He began to speak, but she silenced him with a kiss. His body trembled beneath her as she cradled his face, leaving feathery kisses where salty traces of his tears remained. She giggled sardonically as he twisted from her grips, his heartbeat was elevating and she revelled in the thought of it.

Heartbreak was a serial killer. It had claimed many lives, but had taken pity on her when it left her at the brink of death.

“Are you afraid, my love? ” Mockery dripping off her lips, as she stood to look down at the pathetic fool she’d been in love with.

He begged her again, as she punched him in the face, blows after blows as memories raced through her mind.

“I’m walking away from you, it’s over between us”

The last words he had uttered the day when her world came crashing down.

Fear caused his eyes to widen as she brandished the knife, its blade gleaming hungrily beneath the full moon’s light. His screams became more terrified as he struggled to break free, the ropes biting ravenously in his flesh as the skin tore beneath.

“Please stop hurting yourself, you’re breaking my heart” she whispered.

Oceans of tears were rushing down his face as he begged for mercy. But Mercy wasn’t here. It left the night love had packed. They are long gone, and only the ice remained.

“We will meet again soon, my love. Wait for me by the shore and tell the boatman who sent you when he comes to collect your soul.”

With a kiss goodbye, the knife found its mark, wedged into the heart that had devoured hers.

He gasped as the last gush of air left his lungs. His body jerked three times and then went still.

Her soul was gone, now only darkness remained. Not a single tear appeared as she struck the match.

Flames devoured his remains as she stood back and watched.

He was gone and so was her ability to love. Never would a fool come by again, who would trick her into falling in love.
